The Canadian College of Health Information Management is the certifying body for health information professionals. Candidates who successfully write the Health Information-Certified Associate (HICA) national certification examination (NCE) earn a HICA professional designation. This examination assesses the entry-level competencies of graduates of accredited programs.

With your purchase of the National certification exam (NCE) application HICA, you will gain access to the comprehensive HICA NCE preparatory course. By working through each module and utilizing these resources, exam candidates will be well-prepared to achieve certification and advance their career.

Once your application is submitted, you will receive instructions on how to access the HICA NCE Preparatory Course via email.

What happens if my name or mailing address changes after submitting my application?

If a person’s name or mailing address changes, the College will need to be informed no later than the last date of the examination period. Found in the appropriate NCE guide, please refer to “Section 2: Examination application” to find the quick link for eligibility and dates.

The following actions will need to be taken by applicants:

1. Immediately notify the College through general@cchim.ca.

2. Update the CHIMA membership profile through echima.ca.

If applicants do not notify both the College and CHIMA about these changes, there will be a fee associated with re-printing and re-sending a certification package.
