Delivered online and taught by certified health information management professionals in a self-study format, this hands-on certificate has been designed as an integrated curriculum to ensure new coders are prepared for the workforce and to lessen employers’ training requirements for new medical coders.

The Canadian College of Health Information recognizes that this curriculum meets Canada’s draft national standard for entry-to-practice medical coding as a pilot to gain industry feedback as we advance the formalized medical coding standards. A national coding examination and micro-credential paired with a CHIM certification will officiate this Douglas College certificate once the standards are formalized, further increasing the graduate’s competency and legitimacy for medical coding in Canada.

If you are an academic institution and wish to have program offerings recognized by The Canadian College of Health Information Management, we would be pleased to discuss advancing efforts together. Please reach out.
