0294 Oncology Coding- The Backbone of your Centre’s Data

This education session will introduce you to who is an Oncology Coder and Cancer Registrar. We will explore the educational requirements and certifications for an Oncology Coder and Cancer Registrar, what types of facilities we are found in, and the differences between Oncology Coders and Cancer Registrars versus other hospital coders (such as DAD and NACRS coders).We will highlight the relationship between Oncology Coders and Cancer Registrars in relation to other stakeholders, our role in reporting, and the implications of oncology coding on funding. We will also touch on the cancer patient’s journey through referral to our coding practices with examples of oncology coding and registry specific resources, effective case management and communication with stakeholders.Presented by:
