Crystal Kearley, CHIM, BSc interviews Linda Plummer, CHIM, BA

An interview exploring a perspective on the current state of health information in Nova Scotia. 

Learn about how Nova Scotia‘s health information professionals have overcome challenges unique to their province, how its landscape has changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and what the immediate and longer term future may hold.

Linda Plummer became the director of health information services at Nova Scotia Health in 2016. She is responsible for admitting, switchboard, health records, transcription, coding & abstracting and third party release of information. After graduating from Dalhousie University in 1985, Linda started her career at the IWK Children’s Hospital. For over 30 years, she held a number of positions in health information management. In her last six years, she was a manager of decision support services, responsible for the coding and abstracting, analytics, wait time, workload and case costing teams.  

Crystal earned her HIM diploma from NSCC in 2015 and has since worked with various hospitals under the Nova Scotia Health Authority. She is currently an informatics specialist with the trauma program and earned a bachelor’s degree in science in 2020. Crystal joined the chapter committee in April 2018 and is excited to take on the role of chapter chair.
