0300 Uncovering the Potential of Electronic Medical Record Data
$30.00
This session will challenge the audience to consider how electronic medical record (EMR) data intersects with coded administrative health data. Various new methods, including natural language processing and machine learning, are being developed at the University of Calgary to transform complex and often messy EMR data into useful health information. Challenges will be presented, such as gaps in clinical documentation, diagnosis timing, and health history lists, when identifying a patient’s health conditions or healthcare-related adverse events. The audience will participate in polls and question and answer time for interaction.
