CHIMA and CCHL announce a partnership
A new partnership agreement serves as an avenue to promote excellence in health information leadership
The Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) have agreed to a new partnership to expand health care leaders’ capabilities in Canada and create a community of health information leaders.
CHIMA members who become active CCHL members will receive a voucher for an upcoming CCHL conference, or a LEADS Seminar Series professional development course. CCHL members who join CHIMA will benefit from a preferred price for a CHIMA affiliate membership.
Through this agreement, CHIMA members can also work towards obtaining their Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation, the only certification program for all Canadian health leaders. This strategic alliance offers individual leaders several benefits, including a discount on the application fee, support for lifelong learning in health services leadership, assistance with career advancement, peer recognition, and serves as an essential career designation.
“Digital health and information management expertise will be essential to resolving the challenges facing the health system in the post-pandemic world, especially regarding health human resources and supply chain matters,” states Alain Doucet, CEO of the Canadian College of Health Leaders. “We believe this partnership will have an impact in the intersection between health information management and leadership.”
Both CHIMA and CCHL share a common interest in ensuring that Canada’s health leaders have the skills, knowledge, and education needed to contribute to Canada’s health care system through ongoing professional development and lifelong learning. Together, they will develop a community of health information leaders, provide leadership content and other opportunities.
“We look forward to working together with CCHL to increase health data literacy among Canada’s health leaders while providing health information professionals additional access to leadership and networking resources. Canadians are coming to expect our health leaders to understand the connection between their health information and how it can improve the quality of care they receive,” states Jeff Nesbitt, CEO of CHIMA.
On October 4, 2021, CCHL’s Jaason Geerts and Stéphane Joannette will present “Leadership in health care: Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation,” during CHIMA’s HIP Week 2021 virtual event.
